I was standing on a bridge taking pictures of a frozen river, when I looked up I saw Mr. SnowPlow coming at me. So I pointed my camera, closed my eyes and snapped away. Didn't realize I was this close until I saw the pictures!!

I really wanted to walk across this field and take a picture of the railroad tracks with snow.


The white beard on the cows from eating through the snow cracks me up!! So cute!

My family trip to Colorado was simply wonderful. I froze my tail off taking these pictures and I discovered that practicality dampened my creative juices. There was dozens of shots that would require me to walk across a field or roadside ditch but the innocent white blanket of snow lulls you into a false sense of security. Never having been in the that type of snow before, you think the way the glistening blanket caresses ground she would reveal her nooks and crannies. But this is simply not the case, I made this mistake when I stepped off the road and sank into powered up to my waist.

I am sooo behind!!
I still need to finish watermarking the pictures from the Gardens with a friend, and now I have another batch of Easter pictures to go through. I kidanapped my Papa's go-cart and went off taking pictures at the farm I grew up on. So, tons of pictures to come, but I must share this picture of my dad and my papa.

I rarely take pictures of people, I just don't think I am good at it. But this afternoon this was my view during Easter lunch and I simply couldn't resist it.
Luckily I was able to adjust my camera so I didn't use the flash, so they didn't realize I was snapping away. I much rather prefer candid shots from posed. My uncle was telling some tale which had them engaged in conversation. When we got home from our adventures, this was the first picture I had to look at...so glad it turned out. I will treasure this picture for the rest of my life!! <3

Texas Blue/Pink/White and Maroon Blue Bonnets!!

The gardens were so beautiful, and so eye pleasing that anyone could take lovely pictures. All of the flowers were populated with bees, butterflies, and various pollen seeking bugs. The swans, ducks, geese, turtles were all photogenic and probably even had some media training on how to pose, I have proof with a silly white duck that hammed it up for me. And don't even get me started on a brief photo-affair I had with a couple of peacocks, that I may or may not have stalked. :)

This picture almost looks fake, or altered, but all I did was put my stamp on it!!
One of my favorites

This place not only had tons of blue bonnets, but in the mix they had pink, white, and maroon blue bonnets. Now, I suspect that Texas A & M is the culprit behind the genetically engineered color changing blue bonnets, and after seeing those beautiful flowers, I tip my hat to em. Those multi-colored Texas Blue Bonnets were not only pleasing to the eyes, but to the nose as well!!

I really hesitated posting this picture. I know it is out of focus, but when this little patch of pink blue bonnets first caught my eye, it wasn't the flower itself that struck me, it was the colors. The vibrant greens, and pinks and whites. I wanted my picture to reflect what exactly I saw. Thus I had it slightly out of focus. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!

I was driving along the road and saw this brilliantly colored pink tree surrounded by drag-leafless trees. So I pulled over to snap a few pictures, and I was thrilled when I discovered this tree was buzzing with busy bees. On one of the bees you can see its pollen sac. I was so lucky to have captured all these beeeeautiful bees!

Top 23 signs you need Photog intervention!

1) Your spouse person is sick and tired of being in your photos.

2) You walk a mile, set up your camera for the shot, go to snap the picture and that's when your camera informs you..."SIM CARD FULL" So you let out a bad word.....walk back to the truck (another mile) then go back (another mile) all to take a picture of a fat horse eating grass.

3) Your dog is sick of you following her around with the weird black thing in your face. (it makes you look scary)

4) Your realize the butterfly is flirting with your through the lens.

5) You wait an hour for the damn butterfly to land so you can take its picture.

6) You follow the butterfly down a hill side to take its picture.

7) You rip your jeans, while taking picture of said butterfly.

8) You live for the thrill of landing, "the perfect shot"

9) Though, your not sure what the "perfect shot" will be, you still live for it.

10) You know when you capture, "the perfect shot."

11) You say bad words at butterflies for not cooperating.

15)You sweet mother-in-law allows (to a degree) you to play in her flower beds.

16) Your father-in-law and 13 year old neighbor girl, on the other hand will never understand why you crawl around on your belly, and twist your body into a pretzel.

18) The world you see through the view finder is beautiful, enriching, mesmerizing, simple, complicated, and colorful. When you look through the view finder, you see a world unlike any other, you notice how important and beautiful a small ray of sunlight can be. You see intimate parts of flowers, and just how cute a horses nose is. Truth be told, it's a very addicting world, b/c it's just you and what's on the other side of that lens!

19) People never know where you are, what you're doing, or why it took you 2hours to get home.

20) You spend waaay too much of your afternoon sunlight waiting on butterflies!!

21) You come up with this list while walking 4miles. Hoping you can find that line in the sand between crazy and passionate!

22) On impulse you run out of the house to chase a big-fat-skunk. Only to realize when you're 3feet away from said skunk...this is a bad idea!! (true story, and thank God I did not get sprayed)

23) It takes a photograph to make you realize you have your mother's eyes!

Spring Fever!!

It was such a beautiful day, as soon as I got home I strapped on the camera and went outside, and man it amazes me what beauty nature holds for us. I got to see my first peach blossom of the season!! Hooray! I got to play with the afternoon sun and capture some new red fontain leaves beginning to bloom. I crawled around in the garden, on my belly taking pictures of dandy lions glistening in the late afternoon sun. Then, just as I was about to snap the picture (of the dandy lions and green grass) I heard the smallest sweetest sound of my Calamity coming over to see what I was up too. Calamity doesn't go outside much-actually he's only been outside about 6 times in his 2years of life. So today was a real treat for him, as I heard him cry, I looked up through my lens and then snapped the picture of him peeking at me through the fence.

Then he walked around the fence line and joined me, again walking into my direct line of vision through my lens. Just as I was about to snap the picture a bird flew over head-distracting him from smelling the grass.

This picture is the essence of why I love taking pictures. Capture rare and beautiful moments.

must talk about Nacho a bit. She can not be trusted outside, she will run away and NEVER come back. It is always a sad sight when Calamity gets to come join us outside and she must watch from the back door.

She seems to be my muse. I dunno why, she's not even my cat, She's a total daddy's girl through and through. But, she always seems to be around when I am playing with the camera.

I was going to put my camera up, and as I walked passed the chair, the lighting caught my eye, I turned to find this, Nacho in all her nacho-ness. The white blanket was a Christmas gift from my mom a couple of years back, but now, we refer to it as, "Nacho's blanket."

Alright guys sorry, it's been almost a year since I have posted any pictures. :/

My old camera died, actually it didn't die, so much as I murdered it via: death by water :(

So...I finally got my hands on a new/better/complicated-camera...and I am slowly figuring out all the buttons. Of course, I don't sit down and read the directions, instead I learn this camera by just taking pictures.

I bought these flowers in Wimberly Texas, at an organic flower farm. (To be honest, they were Chad's wedding present. His gift to me, was an ax. -I get the irony in this) These petunia's were not suppose to live past summer. Imagine our shock when I walked outside and saw these lovely, beautiful ladies!
The white iris, was a flower my husband saved from his mothers drive way. She now lives under our live oak tree in the back yard. Her loss is our delightful gain!

My husband loves Irony!

I was thumbing through my picture files on my computer trying to pick some more pictures for this blog, when I stumbled across a file called, "trees," well forgetting what was in it, I clicked it. I simply I love taking pictures of trees. Each one is giant, quiet and strong. 2 of the pictures were taken here in Fort Worth. 1, was taken while hiking at a state park. And the fiery sunset picture was taken in Blanco Texas while Chad and I were scouting out wedding places.

Robert Doisneau is my FAVORITE photographer and Chad got me his work of Paris for Christmas. I have already poured through the 400page book. Read it, inspected the pictures, analyzed the pictures, and cataloged all of the valuable lessons I learned through his work!

lesson 1: Spontaneity is your friend. He was running late to a meeting, and saw a fine arts moving van. He stopped to take some pictures, then....BAM he snapped this picture! My most favorite picture of his entire work! "The helicopters"

Lesson 2: Capture shocking moments!

Lesson 3: Make people wonder, "What is that person thinking?"

"....If I had assigned myself such a mission [Capturing Paris for future generations] I might have collected millions of images, methodically, but it would have cost me countless days without pleasure. No, my behavior was completely unpremeditated. The morning light was enough to get me going, without rhyme or reason. Was it really reasonable to love whatever I happened to see? It was a lovely day in Texas this afternoon! My husband, orange dog and myself enjoyed a day of watching one of my students play soccer, followed by a trip to my favorite place in Fort Worth.
The river was full and flowing, the color of the trees are starting to turn their deep reds, browns and oranges. We watched the ducks try and swim up stream, then they would get so frustrated that they would spread their wings and take flight!!

My earliest memories of playing with a camera was back in the day with Tracey, Toni and Kelli. We somehow got our little hands on some fabric, set my room up like a studio and using my old walkman as a pretend camera, I took pictures of my beautiful models

Next memory: doing the exact same thing only with a real camera and with my poor cousins!

Oh! and then with another camera I was on a boat taking pictures of Sam the wake boarder...I was watching Sam from behind the camera and the next thing I know I am being thrown out of the boat....as someone was reaching for my hand to save me. I said, "Don't worry about me, just grab my camera!" Liz and I swam to shore with my camera above my head-it never got wet, but was never the same.

Then I used the disposable cameras for a bit. About 2 years ago I bought my Olympus and totally love it.

I love taking pictures. I am in love with the notion that I am capturing a moment in time, that from behind the camera...only I can see its charm and potential.

I really hope you enjoy my blog, I am so excited that I have found a way to share another passion of my life.

I have found a photo shop for now that I am relatively content with using. I have always felt that a photo should speak for itself, but I decided that messing with some shadows, mid-tones and highlights, I am not reeeeally disturbing the integrity of the photo...just amplifying it....I guess. (the jury is still out on the photo shopping tho)
